We had tickets for Aled Jones at the Bridgewater Hall on 30th November - he was a great favourite of Gill's; she had lots of his CDs to play in her car and never missed Songs of Praise when he was hosting. We went to the Lowry last January to see ˜White Christmas', sitting in the second row of the stalls, and Gill was absolutely convinced that he smiled directly at her during one of the song and dance numbers at the front of the stage. It was a magic moment for her, and a wonderful evening, especially as she was to start some very strong chemotherapy the following week. In May, as something special for her to focus on, I booked for his concert at the Bridgewater Hall, on Tuesday 30th November 2010. She was so looking forward to it, but sadly she didn't make it. However, two of her greatest friends, Dorothy and Lillian, were there instead of us, and I wrote to Aled asking if he would make an already very emotional night even more special by dedicating a song to Gill, and also to the 'girls' as a thank you for their friendship and support for her and me during some very bad times. He did!! And they spent much of the rest of the show in tears! What a great guy.
